well written blog. Im glad that I could find more info on this. thanks
This reminds me a lot of the concept of short term fulfillment versus long term fulfillment.
But based on this seminar I guess that long term fulfillment also needs to involve the experiencing self.
Maybe long term fulfillment is when the experiencing self and remembering self are being nurtured at around the same time.
This is really very interesting way to learn English!I’ve never seen befor!
Great to know that we live our life through past experiences…
happiness is clearly relative to the story you tell yourself…
So, I anticipate telling myself great stories so I can better experience happiness in real time.
Interesting- never thought of it that way!
Thanks for the intersting movie!
According to Amazon, there are 7,933 titles with the word ‘Happiness’ in them. It only displays results up to page 100, or book 1200, but the books on that page *did* have the word ‘happiness’ in them.
Software pro tip, if you want to know the count of something that matches an easy condition, ask a computer guy. That search took me 2 minutes.
Absolutely fascinating. It will have me THINKING for days. I am very happy in the last year or so . . . and I THINK it is because I briefly consider (THINK about) factors a-b-c, I give them MEANING, and the result is a background hum of unanalyzed joy that permeates everything. What is the role of ascribed MEANING to the Remembering Self in the good doctor’s model? RRR
Fascinating. Everyone should see this. The satisfaction with our lives are so much a function of our memory. By becoming aware that the satisfaction we have in our lives, or our happiness, is mostly a result of our memory, rather than actual experience we may be able to focus our attention to more pleasant memories that can increase our happiness. Thank you for the insight.
I wonder if there has been a study to determine what would happen if everyone’s income was $60,000? What would that make people feel like? Or, even if you were the one at $60,000 wouldn’t you then be the poorest? Wouldn’t you then be miserable?
