  8. Dear Tony,

    I have a question for you…

In Mr Holland’s Opus… The protagonist (Richard Dreyfuss) takes a job in a school as a music teacher so he can get more time to compose his music. But many years later when he is finally made redundant, his wife and son lead him in his school to a hallway where many years worth of ex students are there to celebrate him. His ex student, now the State Governor says in a speach, “(He) considers a great part of his life was misspent, he wrote this symphony to be performed, possibly to make him famous or rich, probably both. That is the American Dream… That is how we measure success, by being rich and famous. On that scale (he) is a failure — But I think he has acheived a success beyond riches and fame. Look around you, there is not a life in this room that you have not touched. And each one is a better person for meeting you or being your student. This is your symphony… These people are the notes and melodies in your opus. And this is the music of your life…

The reason I write this is because I attended DWD in the bahamas in 2003 and around that time I was experiencing a very lucid reality, so it was both shocking, surprising, fearful and exiting to see the clip from Mr Holland’s Opus where the protagonist is shown that he has failed in one respect but has succeeded beyond all measure in another respect, one of how every person in the room is in fact his symphony…

In DWD Bahamas 2003 and the UPW of 2002, I wanted to write a novel… A novel that explained my awakening, in an attempt to assist in the awakening of others. I subsequently never could finish it (despite reaching 297 pages) as it was a stream of consciousness that started as far back as I could remember and continued for many years, every correllated thought and subsequent consequential belief that took me to the point of understanding that comes when one sees complete universal paradox in every aspect of reality, where one sees that the universe is both an external place of infinite dimension and also an internal reflection and construct entirely of ones own consciousness at the same time. That everyone and myself are both divine beings in a state of oneness and also regular people at the same time.

I felt that in seeing that film, I was being shown that I had failed in one respect but had succeeded in another respect. There are days where I see this and cannot escape the thought that everything in existence is a mirror of my thoughts. I do not like this yet I am drawn to it. I felt that in seeing that film I was being shown thatreality and everything in it is my symphony.

Yet I cannot understand why you showed that film clip unless you were (unconsciously) telling me that I would never finish the novel, but I would see (gain insight) into the result of my universal mirror of consciousness.

Why did you show the film clip Tony?

    Kind regards,
    Chris Chalmers
