  1. When i was an apprentice stone setter working with an elderly master of the trade,we were looking at an 800lb slab of granite that needed to be maneuvered between scaffold, around a corner and set on a concrete shelf. There was no room for dollies, handtrucks etc.I told my teacher i thought it was impossible. He told me that i might be right about that” but”he said “the impossible will only take an extra minute” Then using a crow bar he lifted one end of the stone at a time and put a coke bottle under each side. Now the stone could roll and turn corners effortlessly using a third bottle to replace one as it made its way out from the end.Once it was in position he hit the top of the stone with a heavy mallet, the bottles broke and the stone was in perfect position. For 28yrs i have used that saying.I have yet to come across a stone that is truly impossible to set.

  2. I was learning how to drive a tractor-trailer from a soon to be retired co-worker when I has having trouble shifting gears. The truck we were driving had 13 gears, and I was having trouble with just about all of them. Anyways he gets behind the wheel to show me how it’s done, and he did so effortlessly and with no grinding. I said “That’s amazing, how can you do that?!” and he said, “Funny, I think the very same thing when I watch you move the mouse around on your computer!” I instantly had more patience trying to shift gears in a truck.

  4. I totally agree, I recently had a conversation with a friend about being able to share your story with your audience. It allows them to relate to you. Great clip!
