100 Year-Old Marathoner Finishes Race… 80-and-Over Champion Cranks Up Her Training Regimen…And You? What’s Your Latest Challenge?

Check out this inspiring piece from the Wall Street Journal about Fauja Singh, who at 100 is now officially the oldest person to complete a full distance marathon. After reading the entire article, though, you get the sense from Mr. Singh that records are way beside the point.

Also be sure to watch the video featuring Joy Johnson, the defending 80-and-over champion in the New York City Marathon—she may just be gunning for Mr. Singh’s record in a couple of decades.

Please weigh in with your current undertakings. How are you challenging yourself to stay young?

  1. I just discovered this amazing post about a 100 year old finishing a marathon.

I feel I no longer have excuses to let my aches and pains get in the way of becoming fit again…and I am 3 decades younger than this marathoner!

  2. I am committed to achieving the result I know are possible. I had spent a better part of my initial past, which is supported by hypnotics just with a number, which is integrated since 89, so the thought was it would come down…Well, actually now I have the way to do it – owning intellectual property, have a great model and the ability to sustain, so the momentum to come from these fringes have started – bit resist…it’s coming…on second run and checking into Day 5 now of pp classic…there’s pressure too for action, external rapport…Thank you, Ed — hit free coaching session soon after second run…

  4. I’m totally impressed by these two! I turned 40 May of this year and started running myself after seeing a picture of me at another friend’s birthday party! BOY…did I ever need to run! I also ordered and listed to Tony Robbins’ Ultimate Edge…Life Changing information inside!! Thank you Tony!!! I’m down 35 lbs. and just ran 8 miles Saturday. Training for my first half marathon and then on to the big one! Make a decision to change your life and pursue with passion!

  5. I’m pretty active, lacing up just two times a week for now to do kickboxing or zumba but my goal is to makes it out for four times a week. When I get plan and make time for the gym I am always glad I went and undoubtedly feel younger. Currently, I am recovering from a hip injury – keep forgetting that I can’t run without incurring pain for the next week. Frustrating that I actually got out of bed early on the weekend and this is what I get in return? It is upsetting. But once I am pain free and can walk straight again I will hit the dance floor again.
